Hey there bunnies, it has been a while since we had a chat, well let me peak your interest by announcing that today in this post, we shall be talking about the highly coveted and sought after, LUGANSK STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY.. (Applause.. encore) .. I know, I know that you have been waiting for this for a while now, so let’s get to it ……

 

But first ;) an introduction is only fair, isn’t it?

 

 

So, you must have already got the basics about LSMU (Lugansk State Medical University) from this video. 

 

Now, allow me to enlighten you with some other aspects that are also quite impressive when it comes to studying in LSMU. 

 

The university boasts of an international faculty who has been trained and has taught in various countries like UK, US, Israel, Austria, Germany, Poland, Romania etc. 

 

 

The university has various disciplines other than medicine which includes Dentistry, Pharmacy, Pediatrics and Post graduate residencies in various fields of medicine and allied subjects.

So, what’s so special about this university?

1.     A very diverse student body comprising of nationals from about 72 countries.

 Now, let’s talk about the medical education in particular here.

 

The degree awarded by this university under accreditation of the Ministry of Health, Ukraine is MD (Doctor of Medicine) which is equivalent to the primary undergraduate qualification awarded by other countries, e.g. MBBS ( India, UK), MD ( USA, Germany, France etc.) 

 

This degree requires 6 years to complete and is divided into 3 segments constituting of 2 years in each. 

 

 

The first 2 years is known as : Pre-Clinical which comprises mostly of foundation subjects of medicine like Anatomy, Histology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Clinical Biology etc.

 

The next 2 years is knows as: Para-clinical and consists of subjects which are associated with clinical practice but are required for diagnosis and treatment, like Pharmacology, Pathological Morphology, Pathological Physiology, Forensics Sciences etc.

 

The last 2 years are subdivided into clinical and internship years where you shall be taught purely clinical subjects like Pediatrics, Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology etc. and the last year (6^th year) shall be a teaching-internship year when you shall be expected to execute your duties as a student as well as an intern.

 

 

Well, I guess that answers most of the immediate questions about the university, in the next post we shall be talking about the living condition of students in the university and alternatives available. We shall also talk about the pros and cons of living in Lugansk and try to view the city in a nutshell.
