So did you like what you have seen of Lugansk so far? Well, in case you have, wait till you have gone through this post, cos it has only been the tip of the iceberg.
As promised, in this post, we shall have a guided tour of the tourist attractions of this amazing city.
We shall cover both fun and *yawns*… “Culturally aesthetic” places.. (for my culture nerds and geeks) and you shall be free to make your choices.
So, what are we waiting for.. let the tour begin : ……
1. THE INSTITUTE OF CULTURE AND ARTS….
An institute of esteem attracting tourists and students from
all over the world for its museums and courses offered. Also known as “Vladimir
Dahl Institute of Culture and Arts”
2. The City Center with the City Christmas Tree
The biggest Christmas tree in the city planted right in front
of the administrative building of Lugansk. This place witnesses BIG gala every
year at the NEW YEAR’S EVE and during the festive month of Christmas. Don’t
miss this one while you are here.
3. The City Hall
4. Lugansk City Museum.
One of the biggest museums in the city.
5. The LTK Arena.
One of the ultra modern multipurpose football stadium made almost entirely of glass, with a very powerful wifi J the wifi is so powerful that you can access it on the other side of the road from the stadium.
6. The Avangard Stadium
One of the oldest stadium in Lugansk, known to host
Championship games ( the European League) , this stadium has seen teams like
Manchester United, Chelsea, Dynamo Kiev, Shaktar Donetsk, Zarya Lugansk etc
7. The PHILHARMONICS
One of the architectural marvels of this city. The
philharmonic auditorium is one of the most advanced in Ukraine given its
superior acoustics and seating capacity.
8. THE LUGANSK HOTEL
The city’s biggest 5 star hotel comprising of 19 floors, and a state of the art boutique restaurant for the gourmets among us on the highest floor. The vista of the city from this place is breath-taking
9. THE GORKY NATIONAL LIBRARY
Located just beside the hotel Luhansk, it is one of the
finest places of art this city has to offer. A huge collection of rare books,
fully equipped library, a computer kiosk, free wifi and an amazing hang out
area. This is a must visit.
10. LUGANSK AERONAUTICAL MUSEUM
One of the largest aeronautical museums in Europe. This is a
place for the aircraft geeks. You are sure to go crazy by the sheer number of
aircrafts stowed around in this place. Ranging from Heavy bombers to Antonovs.
This is a place only you can dream of.
11. THE OLD LUGANSK CITY
If you are one of those romantic types, you need to visit the
old city, with its vintage looks. You may still find some 19th
century vodkas stowed away in some non descriptive cafes. A little red wine
with some fine Ukrainian Cheese.. what else do you need in life ?
12. THE LUGANSK CITY CENTRE
For the shopaholics among us, this is the place where you
wanna be. Shop till drop and then shop some more. This place has all the brands
that you have ever dreamed of but could never get hold of them. This is like
being in a fairy tale.
13. KRASNIY YAR
If you are one of those backpacking adventurers, you need to
visit this place with all its wildernesses. You will find peace, tranquility
and the necessary thrill to make the day just perfect. !!
